MEDITATION & MINDFULNESS CLASSES – THEMES & DATES
ALL AT WALNUT GROVE CLINIC, PORTISHEAD – TO BOOK CALL 01275 818303 - £15 per class.
Classes run for a minimum of 60 mins, usually nearer 90 minutes, since we allow time for everyone to settle in, and then to ask any questions at the end of the session.
You might wish to bring a notebook & pen to these sessions, as well a square comfortable cushion of your own, large enough for you to sit on (if you can’t sit on the floor, that’s fine, chairs will be available if needed). A lightweight blanket is also often a good idea – please bring one along if you’d like. Loose and comfortable clothing is recommended, such as a T shirt and tracksuit trousers.
Our meditation classes in Portishead are all at Walnut Grove Clinic, with a maximum of 8 people per session, to allow time and space for reflection and discussion.
INTRODUCTION TO MEDITATION & MINDFULNESS
USUALLY THE 1ST SATURDAY OF EACH MONTH : Next class Saturday 7 October - 11.30am
A 90 minute workshop with an introduction to the basic principles & lots of different meditation and mindfulness ideas. An ideal session for beginners, though all sessions will be suitable for everyone it is a good idea to start with this one if possible.

We’ll examine our thoughts about food, undertake a mindful eating exercise, learn some mindfulness techniques to help us eat more mindfully, and undertake some meditation to help with all of this.
CARING FOR OURSELVES AND OTHERS
23 September 2017 – 10.15am
We often give time to others, and not enough time to ourselves. This session will look at self-compassion, mindfulness & meditations to help us look after ourselves, how to increase feelings of gratitude, and how by caring for yourself, you can increase your ability to care for others.
EVERYDAY MEDITATION AND MINDFULNESS

Practical meditation and mindfulness for everyday life – see how it needn’t be a chore to meditate every day, and how to incorporate mindfulness into anything you do. These will be short meditations and practical everyday mindfulness ideas/discussion.
BREATH BASED MEDITATIONS & MINDFULNESS

How to be more aware of our breath, and how to use it to help us meditate; looking at breath based meditations to help us relax, and to help with focus and concentration…..how to use our body’s most portable and versatile tool to help us with meditation and mindfulness!
DEALING WITH ANXIETY AND STRESS

Meditation and mindfulness techniques to help with anxiety and stress. Looking at techniques to incorporate into everyday life, to help deal with situations when you feel anxious or stressed, how to recognise these, and how to better manage them.
OVERCOMING CHALLENGES & DIFFICULT EMOTIONS
21 October 2017 - 10.15am
We all have times when life seems challenging or difficult, or our emotions seem overwhelming; this class will help in trying to identify and deal with these times, with meditations and mindfulness tasks to help steer you through. Also a great follow on class from the anxiety and stress class, to build on techniques covered.
DEALING WITH PHYSICAL PAIN & LIMITED MOVEMENT

Meditation and mindfulness exercises to help you through pain, and to recognise that even limited movement can be mindful and meaningful. Learn how, with meditation and mindfulness, to work through the good days and bad days.
MINDFUL MOVEMENT & BODY AWARENESS

This class will look at mindful movement, and how we can use mindfulness and meditation to be more aware of our bodies, how we can better look after them, and how amazing they are!
